Rare 12-year-old high-quality sherry cask maturation for a Japanese whisky 🍍
Yamazaki 12 Year Old has long been an iconic Japanese whisky in recent years, showcasing the craftsmanship of Japanese whisky to the world. The "Zen" brought by the unique Mizunara casks from the East, with its subtle sandalwood aroma, is astonishing and has earned the admiration of whisky lovers globally.
However, the star of this particular listing is not the ordinary Yamazaki 12 Year Old, but the extremely rare "Yamazaki 12 Year Old Miki Watanabe".

Who is Miki Watanabe? He is the founder of the Japanese chain restaurant giant "Watami Izakaya," owning a catering empire worth over 20 billion yen. His wealth once ranked among the top five richest people in Japan, and he is also a connoisseur of whisky.
So, which distillery captured Miki Watanabe's heart the most? It must undoubtedly be Japan's leading brand, 'Yamazaki'. Initially, he simply selected a cask to share with a few friends. After receiving rave reviews from his friends, Yamazaki Distillery and Mr. Miki Watanabe reached a consensus to release this whisky to the public. Upon its release, it immediately became impossible to find, causing a frenzy of demand within Japan, eventually becoming a rarity akin to a legend!
Mr. Miki Watanabe personally selected sherry cask new make spirit aged over 12 years from Yamazaki's vast aging cellar for his chosen cask, rather than the ordinary Mizunara cask. This highlights the rich and exuberant aroma of the sherry cask while retaining the delicate and smooth style inherent to Yamazaki Distillery.

This particular whisky was only released in limited quantities within Japan, making it truly rare overseas. The Japanese have a saying about domestic products: "First-class products stay in Japan, second-class products are sold to Europe and America." This illustrates that the quality of this whisky is definitely worth trying. In terms of rarity and quality, it is undoubtedly an unmissable masterpiece for collection and enjoyment.

Yamazaki 12 Miki Watanabe Watami Limited is a special edition of Yamazaki 12 Year Old, a whisky matured in sherry casks, bottled in a special 660ml size, and released in limited quantities exclusively within Japan, making it very rare on the market. Miki Watanabe is the founder of the Japanese chain restaurant giant "Watami Izakaya," with his wealth ranking among the top five richest people in Japan, and a renowned whisky connoisseur. There are two versions of this Miki Watanabe Special Selection cask from Yamazaki Distillery.

The first version, launched in 2007, was called "Watami President Choice." After Watanabe retired, this whisky was renamed "Watami Founder’s Choice." It is now discontinued.
