“Phoenix Flame” is a fitting theme for Lagavulin’s 2022 Special Edition bottling, as it has been designed to be the most phenolic Lagavulin yet. Fans of the distillery will know this means a true peat clientele, with plenty of spice and power amplified by pristine oak barrels, this peat-rich Lagavulin is aged in American oak barrels.
Aroma: campfire, bacon and popcorn, with some coastal seaweed notes, very strong saltiness.
Palate: Crackles of black pepper, sweet toffee and smoky wood.
Finish: Big chilli balanced with caramel.
Overall: A perfectly balanced classic Lagavulin, the sweetness of the American oak suits this perfectly.
