Octomore 14.2 uses the same barley varieties and is malted at the same PPM as 14.1, but the liquor is very different due to the influence of wine and sherry casks on the 14.2 spirit.

With over 200 different types of casks in the warehouse, Head Distiller Adam Hannett selected casks that had previously held Oloroso and Amarone, a combination that has a unique sweet and nutty flavour, creating an exceptional single malt whisky.

Sourced from renowned wine regions in Spain and Italy, the spirit is then blended in French oak casks, adding extraordinary depth and complexity to the single malt whisky. Octomore's signature peak smoke is known to pair perfectly with Oloroso sherry casks, the influence of the wood adding a rich, savory flavor to the final spirit.

The oak in the Amarone casks also has a significant influence on the spirit, imparting rich red fruit aromas that lend structure and cohesion to the 14.2.
