After generations, this renowned Champagne house was acquired several times by large groups, including Martini & Rossi, Moët – Hennessy Group, and S.A.M.E. Group. It was eventually placed under G.H. Martel Champagne Group, the fifth largest in the world, and operated as the group's flagship Champagne house. The winery currently produces around 3 million bottles annually. Most of the primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks in traditional chalk cellars, but small oak barrels are also used when the winemaker deems it necessary to add rich vanilla and creamy notes.
In 1811, Charles Gabriel De Cazanove founded the winery and moved his family to Avize in the Côte des Blancs region. His son, Charles Nicolas, then expanded the Champagne brand's reputation. He was not only a leader in the local chamber of commerce but also earned great respect for effectively assisting the local community during the phylloxera epidemic in Europe. In 1902, King Edward II of England received a bottle of Charles De Cazanove Brut Champagne from 1893. He was so impressed that he specially ordered a shipment of Charles De Cazanove Champagne with customized labels to be sent back to England.
